Continue Reading →I don’t come from a background where businesses mixes with social change, and at the time I was skeptical about nonprofits. But I was motivated by the presentation, and I wanted to know more about Ayllu’s integration of business and good. I grew up in a self-made family, a Philippine version of the ‘American Dream,’ where the bottom-line is profit. My grandparents started with next to nothing, but they had determination. My dad and his siblings helped out with the business early on, helping run the business every day after school. After humble beginnings, my family knows business changes lives. To them, businesses traditionally generates social good through ethical practices and charitable donations.

Continue Reading →The point of our market research is to conduct a feasibility study that will lead up to the launch of our pilot program next year. In order to do this well, we have to understand the problem we are trying to solve. The Artemisia and Ashoka projects will help me understand the needs of low-income youth and entrepreneurs, social enterprise and its potential in low-income economies, and allow us to access key networks within Brazil.
