iuMAP is the world’s largest directory of BOP social enterprises. It is a product of Ayllu (pronounced ‘i-u’) launched in media partnership with Next Billion, to track all BOP social enterprises worldwide. While there is great variation among the social enterprises listed here, all use market methods to address a root cause of poverty in developing countries, or offering support to those who do.
We believe information is key to scaling impact. Ayllu has built expertise in microfranchising because it is the most common way social enterprises scale.
iuMAP currently classifies social enterprises by location and area of focus. We will soon add classifications such as profitability focus, stage of growth, and value chain position. Ayllu performs in-depth mapping of regions and industries, analyzes data, shares it, and provides advisory services. This fall, Ayllu will release maps of microenergy (20 leading market solutions worldwide) and Brazil (ecosystem map). iuMAP is backed by Ayllu’s database, which houses data collected from social enterprises. The more we map, the more we’ll share on iuMAP. Soon iuMAP will be more than a directory and a blog; it will be a tool for accessing data and analysis like best practices, trends, connections, and benchmarks. Stay tuned for updates.

- Send Feedback:This is a beta release of the map, and we want to know how we can improve it. Want different categories? Think information is inaccurate? Are we missing social enterprises? Want new features? How should information be classified?
